Host First Annual Dolphin Call Contest
Oscar
nominated singer/songwriter Carol Connors (aka Dolphin Call Lady)
to perform her song ÒThe Dolphins are
Coming, Let the Magic BeginÓ
(PACIFIC PALISADES, CA) March 1, 2013 - The worldÕs largest reef conservation
organization,
Reef
Check Foundation and Body Glove, the worldÕs leading water sports brand, are
thrilled to announce the first annual ÒDolphin Call Contest,Ó to be held Saturday,
April 27, 2013 at the South Bay Earth Day Concert and Celebration in Polliwog
Park in Manhattan Beach. The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to
4:00
p.m.
This zany contest aims to
create awareness of the plight of the worldÕs tropical coral reefs, as well as
the rocky reefs here in California. Dolphins are found in both tropical and
California waters and often feed near reefs. ÒOur hope is that kids and adults will
have fun trying to communicate like dolphins, will learn something and be encouraged
to support our work of saving reefs,Ó said Dr. Gregor Hodgson, founder and
executive director for the Reef Check Foundation. Contestants will have the opportunity to
win a raffle, giveaways and fantastic prizes from Body Glove for the best
dolphin call. The contest is FREE and open to adults and kids, and starting
April 1, dolphin callers can
pre-register online at www.reefcheck.org or at the Reef Check Foundation booth
on the day of the event.
There will also be a special guest appearance and performance
by the original dolphin call lady
herself, two-time Oscar-nominated singer/songwriter, Carol Connors. Miss Connors
is an enthusiastic conservationist, scuba diver, and an avid supporter of Reef
Check. She will be performing her
song,
ÒThe Dolphins are Coming, Let the Magic Begin.Ó
